The temperature was in the 50's but it felt a lot colder. Since I was testing out a new route, I had my phone mounted on my bike so I could see the map when I needed too, but it was just too cold. My phone died and I had to warm it up in order to get it to turn back on and finally Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-78136824526377879512016-12-26T20:01:00.000-08:002016-12-26T20:01:05.364-08:00Lake Ride
It was a beautiful day on November 13th , a little cold, but it was supposed to hit 60 degrees (F) and the sun was shining. We had a wonderful, nearly 40 mile ride around three different local lakes. It was a no-drop ride and we had a new rider on a heavy mountain bike and there were several intense hills. We took our time and enjoyed the ride at whatever pace was needed. &Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-67507539821014065232016-11-11T12:02:00.001-08:002016-11-11T12:02:45.982-08:00Katy Trail
We left my house early Saturday morning (November 5th) for the long drive up to St. Charles, MO to start spend the weekend on the Katy Trail. We parked at the boat house and had lunch at the Bike Shop Cafe. It was still pretty chilly out if you weren't standing in the sun so we had to have a lot of layers for the ride. We headed out and the trail was beautiful. Sunrise over Battlefield
Wonderful, cool, fall morning on October 29th with a group of local cyclists, all meeting and riding the trails before dawn. We got to watch the sun rise while riding and throughout the ride, the mist was still rising off the fields. It was such a beautiful morning with wonderful friends, many of whom I have not been able to ride with for Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-85600878814992653772016-10-30T13:11:00.002-07:002016-10-30T13:11:38.739-07:00Ride 3
I am a little late (a full week) late posting this, but it has been a busy week. I posted in our local Facebook riding group that I would be riding this route slowly with Tsuki and stopping for coffee if anyone wanted to join me. Gene thought it would be a great way to get back on his bike after his mini rest since his return from touring for six weeks. Wow, I love to hear Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-61195691635538113922016-10-19T21:17:00.002-07:002016-10-19T21:17:58.537-07:00Midweek Coffeeneuring Ride!
What a Wednesday today was! I actually was ready early this morning so I decided to stop at Panera on my way to work. My Panera Rewards card is giving me a free bagel every day in October, so I am trying to stop by every chance I get. I also had received a $25 gift card so I decided to get my Jenny (my co-teacher) a coffee as well. I try to bike commute every day on my Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-56228869882751209302016-10-16T09:53:00.000-07:002016-10-16T09:53:07.066-07:00Coffeeneuring 2016
Setting out on our first coffee-neuring ride of the new season. Tsuki has spent the summer resting because she tore her ACL in the spring and was ordered by the vet to avoid running, jumping and playing for 6 weeks. I have also had a busy summer and have only taken her out on a couple of short runs. She is doing much better so I decided to have her join me on the first ride. IUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-64214339324010222522015-11-08T08:29:00.002-08:002015-11-08T08:29:33.563-08:00More coffee and geocaching
My plan for the morning was to take some warm coffee to drink while geocaching to the Greater Springfield Farmer's Market and seeing if they had something warm and caffeinated to drink. That farmer's market is usually more about the produce than the extras and sometimes don't have much available for coffeeneuring. So I stopped at this geocache (http://coord.info/GC61ATA) and dug Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-45606017568041059012015-11-08T07:44:00.003-08:002015-11-08T07:49:02.555-08:00Longer ride with Tsuki
Sunday, Oct 25th, 2015: I decided to do my 15-17 mile bike route around town that stays on the trails. There are a couple of multi caches on the route that I had been avoiding. I looked at them and saw that they weren't difficult after all but they did require getting some information and manipulating numbers so we (Tsuki and I) headed out around dawn.
I found the locations and tookUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-72525732993792905432015-10-18T05:03:00.004-07:002015-10-18T05:10:37.281-07:00Garage Sale Coffeeneuring Ride
This morning a club at the high school I teach at was having a garage sale. I promised my students that I would stop by and visit them on my bike and that I would bring Tsuki. Since Kapua hasn't made it out on any of my coffeeneuring trips, I went to the garage to pack her up and found her back tire VERY flat. I didn't have the time to fix the flat this morning so I took the Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-61246466305753561392015-10-11T21:01:00.001-07:002015-10-11T21:09:18.731-07:00Coffeeneuring to Keen Bean @ the Farmers Market
Tsuki is ready to head out for a bike ride and some geocaching, although Kapua stayed home and the Volpi got to go with this time. Juana meet us at a local park and we headed out around dawn. It was a chilly 45 degrees and we were bundled up well and road several miles before stopping for our first geocache, Lock & Load (GC4C2MK). It has been a long time since I have taken Tsuki on a ride with Kapua and decided that this weekend, having the most sunlight of the year would be a good time to take them both out. I needed a few things from the Farmer's Market and it is a perfect place to take them both. I found a nice shaded spot to park Kapua while Tsuki and I shopped.

My plan was to ride this morning before the snow arrived around lunch, but I woke up to snow already falling. My goal for this year is to ride at least 200 miles each month but the weather this month has kept me off the roads. I figured if I started early I should be able to get the 25 miles needed easily before eleven, but with snow already falling I knew it wouldn't happen. However, I decided Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-61417258815091068802015-01-03T21:10:00.001-08:002015-01-03T21:23:08.148-08:00Happy New Year!Today my patch arrived for completing the Coffeeneuring Challenge and I realized that I have not posted a blog since Thanksgiving. I learned one thing this winter, Tsuki LOVES to run in the cold. In the summer she can only run a mile at a time, in the cold she can run twice the distance, and she really enjoyed Thanksgiving eve's snowy run. A group that meets every other Wednesday morning at a different location to drink coffee and have good conversations. Since I have to be at work by 7:30, I can't make it when school is in session but do my best when we don't have school, like today. The temperatures have been below or barely above freezing all week, and I had been able to continue riding to work, so I was well prepared for the cold ride. The weather forecast was predicting snow for the weekend, so I wanted to keep the ride short and early. I set out a little after 7 am to go to the closest coffeehouse. On the way to Amanda's house.
Today the weather went back to being gorgeous! Dawn was a bit frosty, but once the sun came out it warmed quickly. The sun was bright enough to provide some great shadow shots. Tsuki, Kapua and I rode out to Amanda's to pick her up and then met Erin on the trail and rode on to Mudhouse Coffee downtown.

Halloween ride in the wind.
Fall has arrived, finally. Last weekend we neared record highs and today we reached a record low. The first night below freezing and it goes all the way down to 25°F. Brrr! Friday, we didn't have school, so we took a ride to the park, over six miles round trip. It was still in the 40's, but the wind was ferocious!
I am actually glad that the weather is Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-840152233737463553.post-3085530344046904932014-10-26T20:52:00.001-07:002014-11-01T22:01:51.475-07:00Coffeeneuring Challenge Ride #4
We are on the fourth weekend of the Coffeeneuring Challenge and it does not feel like a Fall day, with the need for a hot beverage. Instead with a high of 83°F, I decided to go for a long ride and just enjoy the beautiful sunny day. I picked Dancing Mule Coffee Company as my location because it is almost two miles from my house and on the way to a Greenways Trail. This morning we got up and rode with some friends for coffee while watching the sunrise. We rode took a slight detour from our route to avoid some marathoners and ended on the top of the parking lot just as the sun was peeking over the tree tops. It was a beautiful, cool and crisp morning spent with friends and coffee. What a great way to start a Saturday.

I plan on documenting my Coffeeneuring Challenge rides on this blog, which means I am going to try to include Tsuki in all seven rides. If you want to know about the challenge, you can find more information HERE.

Since she has so much border collie in her, she is smart, and usually bored. Since I am a teacher, I spend much more time to spend with her in the summer, but personally get tired of just throwing the Frisbee in the backyard for her to catch.
I also have an Electra Hawaii bike named Kapua. In MayUnknownnoreply@blogger.com1
